Da tempo girano diverse voci riguardo al nuovo modello di smartphone rugged della casa coreana, ma sino ad ora purtroppo si sono rilevate inesatte. Ora però è la stessa Samsung ad annunciare questo nuovo smartphone, che si chiamerà Samsung XCover 4s e non XCover 5 come spesso si è detto nei vari rumours dei mesi scorsi.
Sicuramente la scelta del nome è segno di un miglioramento e non di uno stravolgimento dello smartphone, che come vederemo è molto simile al modello attuale, Samsung XCover 4.
Rispetto al modello precedente vengono però migliorate le specifiche hardware e aggiornato il software, rendendolo al passo con i tempi.

A livello di processore XCover 4s monterà una CPU Octa-Core a 1.6 Ghz con una memoria RAM aumentata a 3 GB. Riguardo alla memoria interna, XCover 4s avrà 32 GB di memoria integrata espandibile con Micro SD fino a 512 GB. Rimane invariato il display, di dimensioni contenute, da 5 pollici con risoluzione HD ( 1280 x 720 px ). Il modulo batteria è da 2800 mAh ed è rimovibile, davvero raro per gli smartphone rugged moderni.

Il comparto fotografico è composto da una fotocamera principale da 16 Mp con apertura f/1.7 ed una selfie camera da 5 Mp con apertura f/2.2.
Rimane il jack audio da 3.5 mm, il cavo di ricarica rimane ancora di tipi micro USB, mentre a livello di connettività XCover 4s è dotato di WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooh 4.2, modulo NFC e supporto alle reti 4G/LTE. Samsung XCover 4s rimane, come il suo predecessore, uno smartphone Dual Sim. Non vengono rimossi i tasti fisici sotto al display, che permettono un facile utilizzo anche con guanti o con mani sporche, in modo da garantire sempre l’operatività in tutte le condizioni. Le certificazioni di cui gode XCover 4s sono la certificazione militare MIL-STD-810G e la resistenza di tipo IP68. La versione di Android sarà aggiornata alla 9 Pie. Lo smartphone sarà in commercio a partire dal prossimo luglio. Il prezzo di lancio sarà di 299,99 € per il mercato italiano.
