Di pochi giorni fa la notizia della presentazione del nuovo smartphone rugged CAT S52. Dopo il forte successo dei suoi modelli di punta, prima CAT S60 e poi CAT S61, in questa fine di 2019 vuole lanciare un prodotto nuovo, di qualità, ma di fascia media.
La prima cosa che colpisce di questo nuovo telefono è senz’altro il design, che si differenzia rispetto al classico stile di uno smartphone rugged.

Il design è elegante ed il corpo del telefono è composto da un mix di alluminio e TPU.
Per il display è stato scelto l’ultima versione di Corning, Gorilla Glass 6, che dovrebbe garantire un’ottima resistenza.
Il pannello è un IPS da 5.65 pollici con risoluzione HD+, non un display enorme, ma non avendo Cat ridotto le cornici sopra e sotto il display, il telefono ha comunque delle dimensioni importanti.
Viene mantenuto il jack audio da 3.5mm, mente il sensore di impronte digitali è posto nella parte posteriore del telefono.
La resistenza del telefono è garantita da due certificazioni, quella IP68 per quanto riguarda l’impermeabilità e la certificazione militare MIL-STD-810G per quanto riguarda la resistenza alle temperature ed agli urti.

Caterpillar ha scelto per questo telefono un processore Mediatek Helio P35, con una memoria RAM da 4 GB e 64 GB di memoria interna.
La versione di Android è aggiornata alla ultima versione, Android 9 Pie ma è già stato annunciato il futuro supporto ad Android 10.
Lato fotocamera Cat non ha voluto spingere in innovazione, montando una sola fotocamera principale da 12 Megapixel ed una fotocamera frontale da 8 megapixel.
Seda un lato non ha puntato alla corsa al maggior numero di fotocamera, quella che è stata inserita è un sensore Sony Dual Pixel con apertura f/1.8 che gli consente di effettuare buoni scatti anche in condizioni di poca luce.

Le caratteristiche, come avete potuto notare, sono da medio di gamma, mentre il prezzo di lancio è di 499 € sul sito ufficiale Cat phones.
Un prezzo piuttosto alto per un telefono che è si resistente, ma non porta grosse novità sia dal punto di vista hardware che software. Un telefono rugged che però ha un design elegante e linee pulite, con uno spessore (ed una portabilità) molto migliore rispetto alla maggior parte dei concorrenti.
Vedremo col passare delle settimana se verrà proposto ad uno street price minore, potrebbe diventare un dispositivo interessante per chi cerca l’affidabilità e la resistenza di un marchio come Caterpillar.
